‘Kun Maupay Man It Panahon’ bags special award in Locarno

“Kun Maupay Man It Panahon” of filmmaker Carlo Francisco Manatad was awarded the Cinema e Gioventí¹ Prize from the Concorso Cineasti del presente Junior Jury at the 74th Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland.

“Kun Maupay Man It Panahon” made its world premiere as part of the international festival’s Concorso Cineasti del Presente or Filmmakers of the Present Competition.

“Kun Maupay Man It Panahon” (“Whether the Weather is Fine”) is a film dedicated to the survivors of Typhoon Haiyan that ravaged many parts of Eastern Visayas, including Tacloban, where Manatad is from.

Shot in his native Tacloban, the film tells the journey of a young man, played by Daniel Padilla, who seeks his mom, Norma (Charo Santos) and his girlfriend Andrea (Rans Rifol) amidst the devastation caused by the super-typhoon.
