TYPHOON “Kristine” exited the Philippine area of responsibility on Saturday night, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
As of 3 p.m yesterday, PAGASA said Kristine was some 1,305 km northeast of extreme Northern Luzon. It was moving north northeast at 30 kph, packing maximum sustained winds of 155 kph and gustiness of up to 190 kph.
Kristine entered the country on Friday morning and exited at around 6 p.m Saturday.
PAGASA said Kristine was forecast to “pass close to Amami Islands and Tokara Islands in the Ryukyu Archipelago” in Japan later yesterday.
“Afterwards, the typhoon will head towards the sea off the west coast of Kyushu (Japan) and the Korean Peninsula,” it added.
Kristine did not affect the country’s weather while inside the PAR.
PAGASA said Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to the southwest monsoon and localized thunderstorm. — Victor Reyes
