THE Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU) yesterday scored President Marcos Jr. for opting to spend Labor Day at the White House in Washington, D. C. instead of facing Filipino workers on May 1.
In a statement, KMU Secretary General Jerome Adonis said it is unacceptable for Marcos to be with US President Joe Biden on Labor Day instead of hearing the concerns of laborers.
“As workers around the country commemorate Labor Day, Marcos Jr. has instead chosen to appease US President Joe Biden,” said Adonis.
“He has once again proven that his priority is not the Filipino people but foreign powers… it is an insult to workers, who have long been ignored,” he added.
The labor leader said what makes the situation more condemnable is the fact that Marcos has neglected the workers since coming into power last year.
“Marcos Jr. has been in power for almost a year now yet we haven’t heard anything from him regarding concerns of workers. All he talks about are foreign investments and international trips,” said Adonis.
The KMU warned Marcos that the workers are prepared to make their concerns known to all with or without his presence.
