Singer-actress Kim Molina was emotional during the press conference of the comedy satire from Viva Films, “Seoulmeyt,” last week at Le Reve Events Place in Quezon City.

“Seoulmeyt” is Kim and boyfriend Jerald Napoles’ reunion with their “Jowable” and “Ang Babaeng Walang Pakiramdam” director Darryl Yap. The actress couldn’t hold back the tears when Yap touched on the subject of the gap in their relationship during the presidential campaign period in 2022 when they supported opposing sides. Kim, along with boyfriend Jerald Napoles, supported Leni Robredo, while Director Darryl was one of the most vocal BBM supporter who even directed a series of videos for President Bongbong Marcos.

According to the director, “Seoulmeyt” had been scheduled way back in 2022.

“I can’t remember what happened during the election, medyo nagka-gap kami ni Kim eh because she was supporting the color of your table (pink), I was supporting the color of the carpet (red),” related Yap.

The director, Kim and Jerald weren’t just co-workers but also good friends, so the director took the initiative “to break the ice” between them and, wearing pink, attended the birthday party of Viva’s big boss, Vic de Rosario.

Yap said he saw Kim’s struggles and acknowledged the difficulty faced by the couple due to their association with him.

“I know na mas sila ‘yung mga nakaka-receive ng hindi magaganda kasi kilala ko ‘yung mga naka kasamaan ka ng loob sa showbiz friends nila, so I’m sure sinasabi, Kim, Je ba’t naman ganyan si Darryl?” said the director.

Kim revealed that their bosses at Viva and their friends from showbiz tried to intervene and help to iron things out between the sides, but she cleared that they never really had a falling out.

“Although he knows na hindi ako pabor dun sa mga pinaggagagawa niyang mga bagay bagay and I was very honest and open with that it and ang dami kong questions sa kanya, but then again I’m the kind of friend wherein tinanggap kita, kaibigan kita, I will be right by your side. Kaya kitang ipagtanggol, but this time around, I will not talk to you. Alam niyo ‘yung ganung klaseng kaibigan? So ang hirap kasi during that particular time, a lot of people would ask me to talk because I am ‘Jowable.’ I have to say something,” explained Kim.

It was a very difficult situation, with Kim sharing that she felt she and Jerald were “ipit na ipit.”

“Gusto ko siyang yakapin kasi inaaway siya, pero gusto ko na syang sapakin. Ang hirap di ko alam kung anong gagawin ko kay Da,” said Kim on having mixed emotions during the campaign.

Ironically, the gap only made their reunion more special. They have not only patched up their differences, but somehow, the “distance” has made their hearts grow fonder.

“Kaya this film is really special to me,” said Kim, “aakuin ko na, sorry.

“It’s very special because nakasama ko ulit ‘yung kaibigan ko na kagaguhan ko, nakasama ko siya ulit. Kasi palagi ko ngang sinasabi na palagi ko ngang sinasabi na, ang daming hindi nakakaalam ng isang side ni Daryl na ako lang ang nakakakita, kasi hindi niyo alam ‘yung Darryl na hawak ‘yung kamay sa taas, tapos bababa kami. Tatalon ba tayo? Tapos that happened and I cannot talk to him anymore so it was hard,” she continued, revealing the special bond she shared with the director since the beginning of their careers.

Yap, in response, was effusive with his praise of the kind of people Kim and Jerald are.

So all’s well between them, and to those who wonder, Kim said her friends are in full support of her reunion movie with Yap. They are as excited as she is and likes her post about “Seoulmeyt.”

“Sabi nga ni Direk, choose intelligent friends,” she said.

Aside from Kim and Jerald, “Seoulmeyt” also stars Isay Alvarez, Kid Yambao, Jobelyn Manuel, Marnie Lapus, and Candy Pangilinan. It will open in theaters on May 29.
