THREE suspects in the brutal slaying of a transgender man in Quezon City last week were arrested last Saturday, with PNP chief Guillermo Eleazar saying the “atrocious crime has been solved.”

Eleazar presented the three suspects to the media yesterday at Camp Karingal in Quezon City, identifying them as Zander Dela Cruz, 22, alias “Dugong;” Joel Loyola, 30, alias “Nonoy Sablay;” and Richard Elvin Araza, alias “Tiago,” 34.

They were nabbed four days after the killing of 21-year-old Ebeng Mayor and two days after Mayor’s body was found at a vacant lot in Barangay Bagong Silangan, Quezon City.

“I am happy to announce that we have arrested and formally charged in the Prosecutor’s Office three suspects in the brutal killing of 21-year-old trans man Ebeng Mayor. The PNP has kept its promise to Ebeng’s family and solved this atrocious crime,” Eleazar said.

Eleazar said the QCPD has filed rape with homicide and robbery charges against the three before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office. He added that an additional charge of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition was filed against Loyola. — Noel Talacay
