The Chinese female employee of a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator kidnapped last December 9 in Makati has returned home, according to her husband.

The husband, Chen Tangbin, told Col. Rogelio Simon, Makati police chief, that he and his kidnapped wife, Zhou Mei, will not press charges against the suspects who are Chinese POGO employees identified as Guo Wanshun, Song Xifei, Guo Ebin and Zhang Xipeng.

Simon, however, said they will pursue the case, adding a crime has been committed.

Simon also said they are verifying if indeed Zhou has returned home and how she managed to get away from her kidnappers.

Simon said that Chen, in text message, said: “For the sake of family safety, our husband and wife gave up the investigation of this case, and hold no longer hold anyone legally responsible.”

In a radio interview earlier, Maj. Gideon Ines, Makati City investigation chief, said he received a text message from the husband saying that Zhou Mei, the victim, had returned home last Sunday morning.

“Hello, sir. My wife is back. The doctor said that she can’t disturb her these days, she needs to rest now. Her mood is very unstable. I will go to your office or meet with you in a private club after I have a meeting with a lawyer tomorrow,” Chen said in a text message sent last Sunday night at about 11:54 p.m. — Rod Lagusad
