NEW PSG COMMANDER

The President, leading the Presidential Security Group (PSG) Change of Command Ceremony at the PSG Grandstand in Malacañang Park in Manila yesterday, called on the troopers to continue their mandate of safeguarding the country and to support the new leadership under Brig. Gen. Jesus Nelson Morales.

The President said he is looking forward to working with the new PSG commander whom he is confident would be able to do a good job.

“I am confident with your training, your experience, and overall competence that the PSG will continue to fulfill its role of protecting this institution. I certainly look forward to working with you,” Marcos said of Morales, the deputy commander of the Air Force’s (PAF) logistics command prior to his appointment. He also once served as the Deputy Wing Commander of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) Tactical Operations Wing Eastern Mindanao in Davao City.

“I trust that you will fully support Gen. Morales just as you did Gen. Zagala with your hallmark integrity, service, and excellence. Together, let us continue to perform our duties to the best of our abilities. Let us remain steadfast in safeguarding our country so that we can fulfill our sworn duty of providing a peaceful and secure life for every Filipino,” the President told the troopers.

Marcos also thanked former PSG Commander Brig. Gen. Ramon Zagala for his service, including protecting the First Family and ensuring that what he described as “my first and crucial year in the presidency” was safe and sound.

Zagala, who was appointed as the commander of the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ Civil Relations Service (CRS), was conferred the Distinguished Service Star for his “valuable and exceptional service he rendered under a position of major responsibility.”
