Producer-actor Joed Serrano has withdrawn his candidacy for senator before the COMELEC last December 10.

Joed filed his certificate of candiday last September, advocating for equal rights for the LGBTQ+ community. He also wanted to push for lower rate for electricity and water bills as well as the standardization of rural and urban minimum wage.

On Thursday, December 16, Serrano released a statement saying that he is no longer joining the 2022 elections.

He explained that he was surprised upon learning that a campaign budget amounting to PhP800 million is part of the requirement for him to join the senatorial race.
