PNP and Bureau of Immigration (BI) operatives arrested a Japanese fugitive in Quezon City last Tuesday afternoon, the National Capital Police Regional Office reported yesterday.
The suspect, identified as Sasaki Yohei, 36, was arrested at his residence on Mercury St. in Barangay Tandang Sora.
Yohei was nabbed by a BI mission order for violation of Philippine immigration law “being an undesirable alien.”
Police said Yohei escaped from an illegal offshore gaming hub in Cambodia that was raided last year.
Yohei is said to be a member of a Japanese telecom scam syndicate who came to the Philippines to hide.
Citing information from Japanese authorities, police said Yohei was tasked with buying daily necessities and water-soluble paper for the group.
Yohei is also described “as a man of bad conduct with criminal records such as theft and breaking into a residence.”
Yohei is currently under the custody of the BI “for proper documentation prior to his possible deportation.”
