KYIV — Ukraine has done everything it needs to start accession negotiations with the European Union, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said in Berlin on Tuesday.
He made the remark during a joint news conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
Zelenskiy also said Ukraine has a plan to build 1 gigawatt of gas-fired energy generation this year and four GW in the coming years, as he called for investment, aid and equipment at a recovery conference in Berlin.
Zelenskiy said Russia’s bombardments had knocked out 9 GW of Ukrainian generating capacity since Moscow intensified its air strikes in March. He said Ukraine’s consumption was at about 18 GW last winter.
