Napolcom okays recruitment of 17,314 new cops

THE National Police Commission (Napolcom) has approved the recruitment of 17,314 new policemen this year, mainly to fill up vacancies caused by retirement, separation and other reasons.

The recruitment was approved by Interior Secretary Eduardo Año, who chairs Napolcom, the commission announced yesterday.

Vitaliano Aguirre II, Napolcom vice chairman and executive officer, said 1,000 policemen will be hired by the National Capital Region Police Office under the regular recruitment quota.

The 1,000 new cops will improve police-to-population ratio in Metro Manila, address personnel losses due to localization program, and satisfy the personnel requirement of the office.
