Rody leads PSTC groundbreaking rites

PRESIDENT Duterte led the recent groundbreaking rites of the Philippine Sports Training Center in Bagac, Bataan that will serve as the new state-of-the-art training facility for national athletes.

The President said “this project shows our concerted effort and how it can create a huge impact in the future of our athletes and of the Filipino youth as a whole. With this facility, I am confident we will raise and develop more world-class athletes who will represent the Philippines in international competitions and usher the Philippine sports industry in the country.”

The President commended everyone involved in “this great project which should be the future home and primary venue and development of our national athletes. I wish to recognize the contribution and generosity of the Bataan Provincial Government for donating 250,000 square meters of land here in Bagac for the establishment of the PSTC.”

OUTGOING Games and Amusement Board chairman Abraham Mitra and the protagonists in the coming NBL finals will be the guests in the virtual Philippine Sportswriters Association Forum today, Tuesday.

Mitra is expected to talk about the achievements of his office in the six years he served as GAB chief during the first part of the session that starts at 10 a.m.

NBL Executive vice president Rhose Montreal graces the second part of the weekly forum to discusses the NBL President’s Cup title series between Pampanga Delta and DF Republicans, and the WNBL finals showdown between PSI Lady Air Defenders and Philippine Army Lady Battalion.

Pagdanganan ties for 49th

BIANCA Pagdanganan improved slightly yesterday, shooting a final-round 70 to wind up in a seven-way tie for 49th place at the end of the Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give at the Blythefield Country Club in Belmont, Michigan.

Pagdanganan finished with a four-round output of 281 over the par-72, 6,638-yard course and took home $8,263. She finished 11 strokes behind American Jennifer Kupcho, who won a thrilling three-way playoff battle with compatriot and Tokyo Olympic Games gold medalist Nelly Korda after all finished with identical scores of 270 after four rounds.

Bashierrou nears TC sweep

BASHIERROU moved a step closer in becoming only the 13th Philippine Triple Crown champion by taking the second jewel last Sunday at the Metro Manila Turf Club, clocking 1:51 for the 1,800-meter distance to beat Radio Bell.

The Rancho Sta. Rosa-owned offspring by Brigand out of Allemeuse bred by Melaine Habla took the lead as the gates opened and never looked back, adding P2.1-million to his earnings.
