THE PNP yesterday distributed over P11.71 million as a reward to informants who played key roles in the arrest of two communist leaders and 11 other wanted persons.

One of the informants received P5 million for information that led to the arrest of New People’s Army leader Maria Salome Crisostomo Ujano, a member of the Executive Committee Secretariat of the Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee and member of the Kangaroo Court of the CPP-NPA.

Ujano was arrested by police operatives in Malolos City, Bulacan in November 2021 by virtue of an arrest warrant for rebellion.

Serrano, one of the top officials of the Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee, was arrested in April last year in Pasay City, along with two companions, for murder.

Another P1.71 million was given to 11 informants who gave information leading to the arrest or killing of other wanted persons, namely, Joselito Lumapas, Mohammad Banding, Alfredo Oliveros, Val Castro, Surin Mentang, Rudy Lim, Renato Dayal, Richard Hiteroza, Noel Pailone, Noel Laraya, and Nestor Jacinto.

PNP chief Gen. Benjamin Acorda Jr. led the distribution of the reward in rites at the PNP national headquarters at Camp Crame.
