Infections up to 1,028,738; deaths 17,145

ONE hundred fourteen more deaths were recorded yesterday due to the deadly coronavirus disease (COVID-19) while there were 8,276 more new cases that raised the number of infections in the country to 1,028,738.

In its latest bulletin, the Department of Health said the death toll rose to 17,145 for a case fatality rate of 1.67.

The DOH also said that only one laboratory was not able to submit data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS).

The number of active cases rose to 69,354 from 67,769 last Wednesday, with 94.9 percent of them mild cases, 1.6 percent asymptomatic cases, 1.4 percent severe cases, 1.1 percent critical cases, and 0.92 percent moderate cases.

There were 6,636 more recoveries, raising the number of survivors to 942,239.

The Department of Foreign Affairs said 12 more overseas Filipinos tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total number of infections abroad since last year to 18,325.

There were 13 new recoveries and no new report of fatality among overseas Filipino.

The 13 new recoveries brought to 11,233 the number of overseas Filipinos who survived the virus while the death toll remained at 1,145. — With Ashzel Hachero
