FOR the 13th straight day, less than 1,000 new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases were reported by the Department of Health (DOH) although 113 more lost their battle against the dreaded virus.
In its latest bulletin yesterday, the DOH said total infections in the country rose to 2,835,154 counting the 543 latest cases while the death toll continued to surge to the 50K mark as it climbed to 49,499 for a case fatality rate of 1.75.
The positivity rate in the country stood at 1.7 percent out of the 32,634 tests conducted last December 4.
Active cases continued their downward curve with 13,548 compared to 13,853 last Sunday, with 5,545 mild cases, 3,898 moderate cases, 2,366 severe cases, 1,063 asymptomatic cases, and 676 critical cases. Active cases account for 0.5 percent of COVID cases in the country.
The DOH also reported 830 more recoveries, raising the number of survivors to 2,772,107. This means that 97.8 percent of COVID patients in the country have recovered.
