Infections dip further to 1,591; 186 more die

FROM 2,303 last Tuesday, new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases further dipped to 1,591 yesterday, the lowest in the country since last February, but deaths continued to mount with 186 more succumbing to the deadly virus, according to the Department of Health.

In its latest bulletin, the DOH said the number of infections does not include figures from seven laboratories that failed to submit data last November 1, adding this was the lowest since February 24, when 1,557 infections were reported.

Overall, the number of cases in the country rose to 2,793,898 while the death toll climbed to 43,586 for a case fatality rate of 1.56.

The positivity rate in the country stood at 5.6 percent out of the 29,489 tests conducted last November 1.

Active cases also dropped to 38,014 from 40,786 last Tuesday, with 13.8 percent moderate cases, 8.1 percent severe cases, 5.2 percent asymptomatic cases, and 3.4 percent critical cases

The DOH also reported 4,294 more recoveries, raising the number of survivors to 2,712,298. This means that 97.1 percent of COVID patients in the country have recovered.
