ILIGAN Bishop Jose Rapadas has been elected as the new chairman of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) – Episcopal Commission on Basic Ecclesial Communities (BEC).

A report by CBCP News said Rapadas has been elected to succeed the late Pagadian Bishop Ronald Lunas during the ongoing bishops’ seminar at the Pope Pius XII Catholic Center in Manila.

“Rapadas succeeds Lunas as chairman of the CBCP-BEC after the latter’s passing early this month,” CBCP News said.

In 2021, the CBCP approved the elevation of the then Committee of the BEC into an Episcopal Commission.
