THE head nurse of a government-run hospital was shot dead in Barangay Mayapa, Calamba City early Sunday night.
Reports reaching Col. Eleazar Matta, Laguna Police Provincial Office director, identified the victim as Arlene Molina Saludo, 44, head nurse of Calamba Doctors’ Hospital, who was declared dead on arrival at San Jose Trauma Hospital in Calamba City due to gunshot wounds in the body.
Reports said Saludo was shot at close range by an unknown assailant as she was about to leave a barber shop on board her Toyota Fortuner (AAD-2490) near the San Jose Trauma Hospital where she brought her son at around 6:30 p.m.
Witnesses said the gunman fled on foot towards a parked motorcycle driven by a cohort and they sped away.
A former cop was shot dead last Sunday night while a local traffic enforcer was also shot dead on Monday morning in Pasay City.
The former cop was identified as Joselito Lopez, 46, who was previously detailed with the Special Operations Unit of the Pasay City Police Station. Lopez was one of four cops dismissed in 2008 for the death of a truck helper in Las Pinas. — Raymond Africa and Rod Lagusad
