MEMBERS of the President Isko Movement-Isulong Kapakanan ng Pilipino (PRIMO-ISKO) held a protest action in front of the Bureau of Internal office in Quezon City last Monday to urge the agency anew to collect the long-standing P203 billion estate tax liability of the Marcoses.

The group held the rally during the start of Holy Week to encourage the government agency to compel the Marcos family to pay their billions worth of tax liability for the benefit of Filipinos who until now “carry the cross” of poverty and joblessness.

Nato Agbayani, head of PRIMO-ISKO, said the amount the Marcoses should be paying is enough to feed millions of hungry families, build school and hospital buildings and most especially provide “ayuda” or cash aid to displaced workers during the pandemic.

Agbayani said the BIR should not hold back in collecting the tax liability of the Marcoses if the agency is really not treating them as sacred cows. He said even the Supreme Court sided with the government to collect the Marcos estate tax in a ruling issued in 1997.

“Final and executory na ang desisyon ng Korte Supreme. Wala ng dahilan para hindi singilin ng BIR ang pamilya Marcos,” Agbayani said.

The group is composed of several supporters from the camp of Aksyon Demokratiko standard bearer and Manila Mayor Franciso “Isko Moreno” Domagoso, coming from 30 provincial chapters in the country.

The group said Moreno is the only candidate who is pushing for the collection of the Marcos estate tax, and he has a plan on how to properly utilize the amount to help our fellow Filipinos.

It can be recalled that Aksyon Demokratiko, which was formed by the late senator Raul Roco, exposed the tax liability of the Marcos family.

Ferdinand Marcos Jr., who is running for president, is the executor/administrator of the Marcos estate, along with his mother Imelda.
