MOTHBALLED since 2021 due to the pandemic, the grand procession of the iconic image of the Black Nazarene may just return next year.

The Quiapo Church issued a media advisory yesterday about a scheduled walk-through of the route of the “Traslacion” this Saturday at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila.

“We are inviting you on December 16, at 5 a.m., at the Quirino Grandstand for the walk-through of the route of the procession of the Traslacion, which is part of our preparations for the celebration of Nazareno 2024,” Church officials said.

The advisory added the activity would include officials of the church, government agencies, and other stakeholders in the 2024 Feast of the Black Nazarene.

For decades, the grand procession of the Black Nazarene has been held every January 9 with hundreds of thousands of devotees joining the activity starting at the Quirino Grandstand and ending at the Quiapo Church.
