Former television host Grace Lee brings “Hunt” to Philippine cinemas through her content distribution company Glimmer Inc. In this directorial debut by Emmy-nominated “Squid Games” actor Lee Jung-jae, he stars alongside his best friend and fellow seasoned actor Jung Woo-Sung.

“They have been best friends for decades, and they worked together many times. But to me, this is the epitome of their working relations,” Lee said, although you would not know it in “Hunt.” Their chemistry in real life translates to a tense rivalry on the big screen. “It’s an action film, pero ang ganda panoorin kasi ang guguwapo nilang dalawa,” she joked.

The Cannes-premiering thriller is set in the 1980s, amid a cold war between North and South Korea, where two spies race to discover a North Korean mole among their espionage units.

With our country’s proximity and our familiarity to Korean culture and history, Lee shared her vision for her company to be the leading Korean content distributor in the country. “If there is any country that should ride on this K-phenomenon together (with Korea), it should be the Philippines. And I want Glimmer on the forefront,” she said.

More than importing content, Glimmer also aims to create new and fresh content. “It has to be two-way. We also want to create content together with Korean production (companies) and make an upgraded, really international-standard, Filipino content na puwede naman natin i-export pabalik sa Korea, and internationally also,” Lee explains.

Lee also teased that her company’s calendar is already busy up until the second quarter of next year. “We feel proud because they are recognizing the Philippines as a real moving force when it comes to the entertainment industry.”

“Hunt” will open in cinemas starting August 31.
