DAYS since its launch, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) yesterday said that the OFW (overseas Filipino workers) Pass encountered glitches during its pilot testing.
In a social media post, the DMW said the system is unable to send One-Time Password (OTP) authentication for those who have already started processing their OFW Pass.
“Currently, we are unable to send the One-Time Password (OTP) authentication in all the pilot test run countries,” said the DMW.
It said that system engineers are already working on the technical glitches of the system.
“Please wait for the advisory once the OTP authentication is already available,” said DMW.
In a separate statement, DMW Secretary Susan Ople said such glitches in the system are already expected by the department.
“An app that is new will always have its set of challenges,” said Ople, adding that this is the reason why they have set a transition period for the replacement of the traditional Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC) to the digital OFW Pass.
“This is why we still have the standard OEC until the transition from analog to digital has gained traction,” said Ople.
Last Friday, the DMW held the ceremonial launch of the OFW Pass in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar, Hongkong, Singapore, Malaysia, Oman, Japan, Taiwan, and United Kingdom (UK).
