CAN the Gilas Pilipinas 3×3 squad hack it against tough foes?

That will be known today when the Filipinos launch their bid in the FIBA 3×3 Olympic qualifying tournament in Graz, Austria.

Gilas squares off with Qatar at the picturesque Main Square’s Thunderdome at 7:55 p.m. and then clashes with Slovenia at 9:35 p.m.

The quartet of San Miguel Beer teammates CJ Perez and Mo Tautuaa, Fil-Am wingman Joshua Munzon, and Alvin Pasaol, and pool player Leonard Santillan together with PBA legend and Gilas coach Ronnie Magsanoc arrived in Graz yesterday.

Former pro Karl Dehesa was left out of the trip as he was still completing a 14-day quarantine period.

The squad left Manila late last Sunday night and endured a long 24-hour flight that included a layover in Dubai before flying to the central European city last Monday.

Magsanoc and his charges are awaiting the results of their RT-PCR tests before they hold practice at Hauptplatz.

Bracketed in Group C of the four-group, 20-country joust, Gilas tackles Dominican Republic and France on Friday.
