PNP officer-in-charge Lt. Gen. Archie Gamboa yesterday ordered the concerned police units to ensure the speedy release of all benefits due the family of Cpl. Ronnie Tamaliuan, who was killed in a shootout with alleged pushers in Plaridel, Bulacan last Friday.

Gamboa said among the benefits the family of Tamaliuan will get include financial assistance from the President’s Social Fund, special assistance fund from the PNP national headquarters and National Police Commission, death benefits from the Public Safety Mutual Benefit Fund Inc., lifetime pension for his widow, and scholarship for dependent children.

“I share the pride of every member of the PNP in honoring the late Cpl. Ronnie Tamaliuan who offered the supreme sacrifice over the weekend,” Gamboa said.

Tamaliuan, detailed with the Bulacan Provincial Intelligence Branch, responded to a call with his colleagues on the presence of armed men led by one Nesty Nacino allegedly selling illegal drugs at the Alvero relocation site in Barangay Lalangan late Friday night.

The responding cops were met with a volley of shots from Nacino’s group that triggered a gun battle. Tamaliuan and Nacino died on the spot while Nacino’s cohorts scampered in different directions.

Recovered from the scene were a 12-guage shotgun, 63 plastic sachets of suspected shabu, a cellphone, and bullet casings.

Police said Nacino has just been released from jail over an illegal drugs case.
