Despite the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic, PLDT Smart Foundation’s Gabay Guro ensures that the Filipino teachers will be given tribute for all their hard work and sacrifices through its annual grand gathering.
Set to happen for the first time in a virtual landscape, this year’s teachers’ tribute “Digitalization: Transitioning to a Better Normal” will be streamed LIVE on Oct. 3, Saturday via Gabay Guro’s Facebook page and Youtube Channel starting at 3 p.m.
“Our teachers are the pillars of education. Amid the new normal, they pave the way for our children to have the best learning opportunities. It is through our Grand Gathering that we pay homage to the important role they play in transforming the lives of the next generation,” said Gabay Guro Chairperson Chaye Cabal-Revilla.
A celebration of this magnitude is always a daunting task, but given that this will be the first time that the grand gathering will be virtual has made the preparation and the mounting more challenging, admitted Gabay Guro Chair Chaye Cabal-Revilla.
“It can stressful,” Chaye said, “but we take the pain and the stress with love because we do this for the love of our teachers.”
Pops Fernandez, one of the performers who has been lending her talents to the yearly salute to teachers, said it’s a privilege to be part of the growth of Gabay Guro.
“No coronavirus, no pandemic could stop Gabay Guro,” she said.
In a Zoom press con, Pops and her fellow performers, Gabby Concepcion, Jona and Regine Velasquez, have all expressed their eagerness to entertain and be part of the teacher’s tradition which is now on its thirteenth year.
This Saturday’s celebration will be a day of world-class music and performances by the country’s best.
