FORMER Lanao del Sur Rep. Mohamned Hussein Pangandaman has been named administrator of the Bataan Freeport Authority while Education spokesman Michael Poa was undersecretary of the Department of Education (DepEd).
The new appointments signed by President Marcos Jr. on April 28 also included Anthony D. Alcantara as special envoy on transnational crime vice Bruce Concepcion.
Alcantara is the “same person” as retired Northern Luzon Command commander Lt. Gen D. Anthony Alcantara, according to Presidential Communications Secretary Cheloy Garafil. But based on Armed Forces records, Alcantara who also served as deputy chief of staff, has “J” as middle initial.
Alcantara served as commander of the Army’s Training and Doctrine Command, 6th Infantry Division, 702nd Brigade, 16th Infantry Battalion, and the Presidential Escorts Battalion under the Presidential Security Group.
The Office of the Special Envoy on Transnational Crime was created in 2004 to address borderless crimes. with Florencio Fianza as first head.
The Presidential Communications Office announced appointments in other agencies including Poa, a lawyer; DepEd executive assistant Sunshine Charry Fajarda as assistant secretary; assistant secretary Teodoro Gatchalian of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) as undersecretary; and Romela Ratillaas DOST Director IV.
Also appointed were former Philippine Trading Corporation director Maria Blanca Kim Lokin as undersecretary of the Department of Trade and Industry; Annabelle Ploteña, acting member of the Board of Directors at the Southern Philippines Development Authority; Avelino Caraan Jr. and Shirley Vicoy-Yorong as members of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority Board (TESDA); Eugenio Paguirigan, Director IV, Office for Transportation Security; Maria Lourdes Saluta as Director III, Tariff Commission; and Ronald Cabute, Nelson Cañete, and Ma. Victoria Deypalubos, Director II, National Telecommunications Commission.
