Former general, lawyer named undersecretaries

PRESIDENT Marcos Jr. has named a retired police general and a lawyer as undersecretaries of the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) and Office of the Executive Secretary (OES), the Office of the Press Secretary (OPS) announced yesterday.

The OPS released photos of retired police general Gilbert dela Cruz and lawyer Rogelio Peig II taking their oath as undersecretaries of PAOCC and the Strategic Action and Response Office (STAR) under the OES, respectively, before Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin.

Details about the appointment and appointees have yet to be released.

Prior to his appointment, Dela Cruz served as a member of the Dangerous Drugs Board.

The PAOCC was created in 1998 to help deter and fight organized crime groups.

Peig is a member of the Peig Peig & Liberato Law firm and a former city administrator of Valenzuela. He also previously served as chief political officer at the House of Representatives.
