SURIGAO Bishop Antonieto Cabajog yesterday appealed to the public to pray for the families affected by Typhoon “Odette” and called on the faithful to help the survivors, saying “food and water are priority needs in badly hit areas.”

“Never in my entire life have I encountered such typhoon. To say it’s ‘super’ is an understatement,” said Cabajog, adding the typhoon left considerable damage to the Cathedral of San Nicholas of Tolentino and its rectory.

Two parish churches in the city also suffered broken glasses, blown roofings, and flooding, said Cabajog.

Cabajog said calling Odette a “super typhoon” would be an understatement.

In a message sent to the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), Cabajog said calling it “super” won’t be adequate to describe the devastation it caused in the Diocese of Surigao.
