A CREW member of a fishing boat was killed while nine others went missing after rough sea conditions nearly capsized their vessel off Davao Oriental yesterday.
The Philippine Coast Guard said the ill-fated fishing boat, Genesis 2, figured in the mishap around 1 a.m. some 182 nautical miles off Banganga town.
“According to its boat captain, Mr. Allan Donaire, they encountered a sudden change in sea condition at around 12 midnight, causing their fishing boat to half-submerge an hour later,” the PCG said in a statement.
The boat, owned by OGDI Fishing Company, had 24 crew members on board at that time.
Fishing boats near the area responded and rescued 14 of the crew members, according to the PCG.
