POLICE operatives arrested a female New People’s Army (NPA) leader and a former policeman wanted for various crimes in separate operations in Taguig City and Cainta, Rizal.
The arrested NPA leader was identified by her aliases as Yvone, Sam, and Ayang, of the NPA’s Sub-Regional Military Area 4D of the Southern Tagalog Regional Party Committee.
She was arrested in Central Signal Village in Taguig City last Monday by the PNP in collaboration with the Armed Forces for murder, attempted murder, frustrated murder and theft.
Police said the Department of National Defense and the Department of Interior and Local Government have offered P280,000 as a reward for the arrest of the suspect.
“The successful capture of this high-ranking CTG (community terrorist group) member is a testament to the unwavering determination and relentless pursuit of our law enforcement agencies to bring justice to the victims of CTG-related crimes,” said PNP chief Gen. Benjamin Acorda Jr.
“We will continue to work tirelessly to apprehend individuals who threaten the safety and security of our nation. This operation sends a clear message to all criminal elements that the Philippine National Police remains resolute in upholding the rule of law,” added Acorda.
Former SPO1 Joel Consuelo Villanueva was arrested by operatives of the PNP Intelligence Group in Cainta, Rizal yesterday after evading the law for 28 years.
Villanueva was arrested by virtue of a warrant issued by a Lucena City court for homicide. The PNP said a reward of P275,000 had been offered for the arrest of Villanueva.
Villanueva was dismissed from the service in 1995 for the killing of a military officer in 1991. He was convicted and detained at the Lucena City jail.
He escaped in July 1995 and was recaptured a year later but again escaped while undergoing medical examination.
“The arrest of Joel Villanueva sends a clear message that the PNP is relentless in its pursuit of individuals who have evaded justice for far too long,” said Acorda.
