A FEMALE New People’s Army (NPA) leader was arrested by police and military personnel in Camalaniugan town in Cagayan on Monday.

PNP public information office chief Brig. Gen. Roderick Alba identified the suspect as Rosielyn Domingo Simeon, 34, who carries the aliases Jinky, Eya, Di and Diya.

Alba said Simeon is a member of the executive committee of the NPA operating in Cagayan province, where she also serves as an armorer and medic.

Simeon was in a bus when she was arrested by policemen and soldiers at around 9:30 a.m. in Barangay Bulala.

Alba said Simeon was nabbed by virtue of an arrest warrant issued by a Cagayan court for illegal possession, manufacture and acquisition of firearms, ammunition and explosives.

Seized from her were three cell phone keypads, four SIM cards, a power bank, four memory cards, a charger, a notebook, a medical kit, a P1,000 bill, and a flash drive.

PNP officer-in-charge Lt. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr. lauded the troops for their “steadfast commitment to quell the proliferation of illegal firearms, ammunitions, and weapons.

“Let us continue this great accomplishment as we protect the community from this growing menace that threatens public safety and national security,” Danao said.

Meanwhile, 17 NPA rebels surrendered to the military and police in Davao del Norte, Oriental Mindoro and Masbate.

Four of the rebels yielded to the Army’s 56th Infantry Battalion in Talaingod, Davao del Norte on Tuesday.
