THE Food and Drug Administration (FDA) yesterday warned the public against buying four over-the-counter (OTC) unregistered drug products which have foreign language labels and are being sold in local markets.
The FDA has issued Advisory No.2024-0576 informing the public that OTC Clindamycin Phosphate Gel, OTC Z36021451 [label in foreign language], OTC Me Polyvinyl Alcohol Eye Drops, and Jinhua Qinggan Keli do not have Certificates of Product Registration (CPRs).
“FDA Post-Marketing Surveillance (PMS) activities have verified that the above-mentioned drug products have not gone through the registration process of the agency and have not been issued with proper authorization in the form of Certificate of Product Registration,” said the FDA.
“FDA advises the public against the purchase and use of the following unregistered drug products,” it added, saying that “consumption of such violative products may pose potential danger or injury to health.”
The FDA urged all business establishments in the country not to distribute the four unregistered drug products.
It likewise asked all local government units (LGUs) and law enforcement agencies (LEAs) to ensure that the said products are not sold or made available in their respective areas of jurisdiction.
