THE Food and Drug Administration yesterday warned the public against adulterated food supplements for males, which contain a prohibited ingredient.
The FDA said batches of “BRAVO Maca + Jatropha + Corynaea Crassa” food supplement for men (specific lot number ABV38F26T and expiry date Feb. 26, 2021) were found positive for Tadalafil which is prohibited in food/dietary supplements.
Tadalafil is a prescription drug used to treat male sexual function problems such as impotence or erectile dysfunction.
The FDA said the adulterated product poses health risks to those who have had a stroke and severe vision loss, and persons experiencing stomach ulcers, low or high blood pressure, and heart, kidney, liver, bleeding, and blood cell problems.
Possible side effects are indigestion, back pain, muscle aches, stuffy or runny nose, and headaches.
