MANILA Mayor and Aksyon Demokratiko standard bearer Isko Moreno felt a “little unwell” while in Sorsogon province on the second leg of his Bicol campaign sortie.

Moreno’s running mate, Willie Ong, who is a cardiologist and internist by training, assured the public there is no cause for concern.

In a social media post, Ong said Moreno told him Monday morning that he was experiencing some chest pains.

Ong said his wife, Dr. Liza Ramoso-Ong assisted him by getting Moreno’s blood pressure and heart rate.

“His blood pressure according to Doc Liza was 110/80 mmhg. Heart rate was 88. His heart is okay. I told him there is nothing serious as it is mostly due to fatigue,” Ong said, adding the city mayor could was experiencing costochondritis.

“Hindi ‘yan sakit sa puso,” he added.

According to the website Mayo Clinic, costochondritis is an inflammation of the cartilage that connects a rib to the breastbone. Pain caused by the condition mimics that of a heart attack or other heart conditions.

Ong assured his social media followers that the Manila mayor remains in good health despite his hectic schedule going around different provinces and cities, doing town hall meetings and motorcades to cover as much ground as possible and meet as many people during sorties.

Prior to their Sorsogon sortie, Moreno’s team also campaigned in Masbate. They are expected to campaign in Albay province today.

Last week, Moreno, Ong and Aksyon Demokratiko’s senatorial bets barnstormed the provinces of Tarlac, Nueva Ecija and Bulacan.

Moreno also pressed on with his schedule in Sorsogon despite felling unwell earlier.

He even took time to take selfies with his supporters both young and old who welcomed him to the province.

Also yesterday, Moreno said red-tagging individuals just because they disagree with one’s opinion is unfair.

Moreno said any allegation of supposed alliance or coalition by any person or group with insurgent groups should be backed by solid intelligence information.

“But if you’re just red-tagging here because he or she disagrees with you, that is unfair,” the local executive said.

Moreno made the statement as President Duterte, Sen. Panfilo Lacson and Cavite Rep. Jesus Crispin Remulla, among others, said that they have separately received intelligence report allegedly indicating that rebel groups have colluded with “yellow” forces to sow discord during the May 9 elections.

Lacson has also cautioned Vice President Leni Robredo, the opposition’s presidential candidate, about a possible communist infiltration of her campaign sorties ahead of the election. Robredo has belied the claim.

Moreno said: “I can sit with you, I can talk to you, but it doesn’t mean I agree with what you believe. Respect begets respect.”

Moreno himself was accused of having links with the communist rebels after he ordered tarpaulins in the city removed last year and declared as “persona non grata” or unwelcome persons members of the Communist Party of the Philippines, New People’s Army, and the National Democratic Front.

The Manila mayor has denied he is a supporter of the communist movement.
