Beginning June 25, GMA’s second free-to-air channel GTV launches its first family sitcom “Tols” bringing good vibes and life lessons to viewers.
The comedy show is headlined by sought-after actors Kelvin Miranda as Uno, Shaun Salvador as Dos and Abdul Raman as Third. Playing equally important roles are Sparkle’s talented comedians Rufa Mae Quinto as Mommy Barbie and Betong Sumaya as Tuks.
“Tols” is the story of the Macaspac triplets Uno (Kelvin), Dos (Shaun) and Third (Abdul) who grew up separately and become completely estranged to each other. Their mom Barbie (Rufa Mae) has to go abroad and leave them to their relatives in order to work and give them a good life.
When Barbie goes back to the Philippines after several years, she wishes to reunite and live with her sons. Although hesitant, the triplets agree. However, Barbie feels the resentment of her sons and she vows to do her best to win their hearts.
For the family to survive their daily expenses, Barbie and her sons decide to revive her father’s barbershop. They soon repackage it to keep up with the times and call it Tols Barber and Salon, a hybrid barber-salon shop for men and women manned by straight men.
Abdul considers being part of “Tols” as his big break and shares how much he learned from his co-stars, “It’s my first sitcom. It’s my first lead role. I feel like it’s a really, really big break for me. I am very excited about the airing of this show and I am very thankful for everyone involved. Sa aming tatlo naman, I love these guys. Palagi kaming nagpu-push sa isa’t isa to do better in every scene that we do.”
Shaun, on the other hand, started his career in “Walang Tulugan with the Mastershowman” and had several commercials before landing his role in the sitcom.
Just like her role in the sitcom, Rufa Mae is making her TV comeback after years of living abroad with her husband and daughter. The Sparkle talent shares her excitement to be working on this program, “Parang God’s will lahat ng nangyari. Na-feel ko lang kasi wala nang quarantine, so sabi ko pwede na kaming umuwi. Na-miss kong magpatawa. Saan ka makakakuha ng trabaho na walang ginawa kundi tumawa nang tumawa? Dito sa show, welcome lahat at para kaming isang maliit na pamilya.”
Betong teases viewers that they must watch out for the special guests in the show, “Kung papalarin na magkaroon ng Season 2, mas marami pang magiging guests. Pero sa pagsisimula namin, ang dami na ring mga Kapuso na aabangan ninyo, at bubulaga na lang sa ‘Tols.'”
Spicing up the lives of the triplets in the series are Arkin Del Rosario as Makoy Bayagbag, the conceited man who will do everything to steal the attention of girls; Olive May as Ellane Dimaculangan, a smart young lady and one-of-the-boys; Raymond Mabute as Kenny Dimaculangan, the reliable manager of Tols Barber Salon; and Rolando Inocencio as Mang Kanor Macaspac, the loving father of Barbie who provides her the voice of reason during tough times.
CEO of Tyronne Escalante Artist Management (TEAM) Tyronne Escalante is thankful to GMA for opening its doors to Kelvin, Abdul and Shaun, “In behalf of Merlion Events Production Incorporated, gusto ko pong magpasalamat sa opportunity na ibinigay ng GMA.”Monti Parungao is at the helm of this much-awaited sitcom which is a co-production between GMA and Merlion Events Production, Inc.
