PRESIDENT Marcos Jr yesterday said Filipinos can expect enhanced collaboration between the Philippines and Singapore, especially on common global challenges,  following his dinner meeting with Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong last Sunday.

The President, in his official Facebook account, said his dinner meeting with the two Singaporean officials ended in a “promising” note. After dinner, they watched the Formula One Grand Prix race.

“The discussions with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Deputy PM Lawrence Wong have been promising. Our countries can expect enhanced collaboration on multiple fronts to address common global challenges. Later in the evening, we watched Ferrari clinch the podium at the F1 Grand Prix!” Marcos said in his post.

There were no details on what the future collaborations would be.

Marcos’ attendance at the F1 Grand Prix in Singapore was on the invitation of the Prime Minister.

Communications Secretary Cheloy Garafil said the President arrived in Manila from Singapore around 2 a.m. yesterday.

Marcos flew to Singapore on Thursday last week for an official visit during which he attended the 10th Asia Summit by Milken Institute, which coincided with his 66th birthday. He also attended a roundtable meeting with business leaders and talked about potential investment opportunities in the Philippines.

He also brought home around P11 billion worth of pledged investments, following his meeting with Singaporean multinational technology company Dyson.

The company plans to put up a new factory producing electrical motors and to invest in research and development in the Philippines in the next two years.

Marcos also met with officials of the Malaysian luxury goods firm Valiram which plans to develop airport outlets for duty-free retail tourism, and with the Indian GMR Group that expressed interest to invest more in the administration’s “Build Better More” infrastructure program particularly in airports, roads and energy infrastructure on top of its current involvement in the development of the Sangley Point International Airport.

The President also met with some members of the Filipino community in Singapore on Sunday afternoon when he visited the Lucky Plaza Mall with First Lady Liza Marcos, son Vince Marcos, and Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez.
