OPERATIVES of the PNP Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (IMEG) arrested a former Overseas Filipino Worker posing as a policeman for extortion in Talisay, Batangas last Monday afternoon.
An IMEG report identified the suspect as Arvin Luzaran Sumague, 42, a resident of Barangay Sta Maria, Talisay.
Sumague was nabbed by IMEG operatives, in coordination with Talisay police station, during an entrapment operation at a convenience store in Barangay Banga, Talisay at around 5:40 p.m.
Before the operation, a certain Peter Paul Pasuguin reported to the IMEG that one Corporal Edison sought money from him in exchange for the protection of several gambling tables they put up at the wake of his cousin, Rene Ladiana, in Barangay Banga.
Corporal Edison was arrested as soon as he accepted the “protection money” from Pasuguin. It was later established that Corporal Edison is not a member of the PNP and his true name is Arvin Luzaran Sumague.
“Not known to the suspect, he was under surveillance, and right after he accepted the marked money, IMEG operatives and Talisay MPS (municipal police station) arrested the suspect,” the IMEG report said.
