PRESIDENT Marcos Jr. has appointed former Pandan, Antique mayor Jonathan Dioso Tan as chairman and administrator of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA).
Based on the April 28 appointment letter, Tan replaced Rolen Paulino who submitted his courtesy resignation on March 31.
The letter said that Tan, who served as mayor of Pandan from 2010 to 2019, would serve a term of six years.
Paulino quit his post to give Marcos Jr. a free hand in choosing the next SBMA chief despite having a fixed term of six years based on Republic Act 7227, otherwise known as the Bases Conversion and Development Act of 1992.
Paulino was appointed in March 2022 or months before the term of then President Rodrigo Duterte ended. — Jocelyn Montemayor
