OPERATIVES of the PNP Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (IMEG) arrested a former policeman facing a case for malversation of government property in Manila.
The IMEG announced yesterday the arrest of former Master Sergeant Joel Tamala Jasareno, formerly assigned with the Quezon City Police District.
Jasareno was arrested last Monday in Balut, Tondo on the strength of an arrest warrant issued by Quezon City Judge Madonna Echiverri. The court set a P60,000 bail for his temporary liberty.
“The case of malversation (of government property) was filed by QCPD against the accused cop over his issued long firearms (Galil) which he failed to return to his unit,” an IMEG statement said.
Jasareno went on Absent Without Official Leave after the case was filed against him. He was subsequently dismissed from the police service.
The arrest of Jasareno was held by IMEG operatives in coordination with operatives of the Eastern Police District.
IMEG operatives also served a warrant on another former policeman, ex-Patrolman Luis Jomok III, for two counts of theft.
The warrant was issued by Antipolo City Judge Banuar Reuben Falcon last February after Jomok failed to attend a court hearing on the case.
The warrant was served on Jomok last Tuesday at the National Bilibid Prisons (NBP) in Muntinlupa City where he is serving a sentence for homicide.
