The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) held the Responsableng Panonood Family and Media Summit in Quezon City, aimed at empowering families as informed media consumers. Guests included Mayor Joy Belmonte, journalist Korina Sanchez-Roxas, and representatives from the National Council for Children’s Television.
Aligned with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s vision to enhance media literacy, MTRCB Chair Lala Sotto-Antonio emphasized the need for parents to guide children in the evolving digital landscape.
“It is crucial that we equip parents and supervising adults with the necessary tools and knowledge to guide the younger generation in consuming media responsibly,” Sotto-Antonio said.
Meanwhile, Mayor Belmonte and Sanchez-Roxas highlighted the importance of adult supervision and content moderation.
The summit featured experts discussing strategies to promote beneficial content for children. The Responsableng Panonood campaign, launched by MTRCB in 2023, focuses on helping families manage screen time and select quality content.
