Election, campaign periods for 2025 polls set

LESS than a year before the May 2025 national and local polls, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) yesterday released election and campaign periods as well as the time frame for filing certificates of candidacy (COCs) and certificates of nomination and acceptance of nomination (CON-CAN) for party-list groups.

In Resolution No. 10999, the Comelec en banc set the period to file COCs for candidates for national and local posts on October 1 to 8.

As approved by the Commission en banc, the period to file COCs for substitute bets of candidates who will withdraw will only be allowed until October 8.

As for those subbing for candidates, due to disqualification or death, they will be allowed until mid-day of Election Day which is May 12, 2025.

During the same period of October 1 to 8, the Commission said party-list groups must submit their CONs and CANs for their nominees.

The Comelec also set the election period for the 2025 polls from January 12 to June 11, 2025.

During the entire election period, the gun ban will be in full effect nationwide.

As for the campaign period of candidates for senator and party-list groups, it will be from February 11 to May 10, 2025.

On the other hand, the campaign period for local bets will run from March 28 to May 10, 2025.

The Comelec said the period for overseas voting will run from April 13 to May 12, 2025.

Local absentee voting will be from April 28 to 30, 2025.
