EARLY registration for schoolyear 2023-2024 for incoming Kindergarten and Grades 1, 7 and 11 learners in public schools started yesterday.

DepEd Order No. 10 series of 2023 issued last Tuesday by Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte amended DepEd Order No. 03, series of 2018 which set the new schedule for early registration in public schools.

“Early registration for the school year 2023-2024 of incoming Kindergarten, Grades 1, 7, and 11 learners in public schools shall be conducted from May 10 to June 9, 2023,” Duterte said in her order, adding the conduct of early registration should be done face-to-face.

“However, the schools may continue to implement other options or means of collecting early registration forms,” Duterte added.

She said the amendment in the early registration period was due to the “shift of the beginning of the school year from June to August.”

In the same order, Duterte reiterated that all incoming learners enrolling in Kindergarten and Grades 1, 7, and 11 in all public elementary and secondary schools “shall pre-register or participate in the early registration to allow DepEd to make the necessary preparations and adjustments of plans” for the incoming School Year 2023-2024.

At the same time, she stressed that incoming Grades 2-6, 8-10, and 12 learners from public schools “do not need to participate in the early registration” as they are already considered as “pre-registered.”

As for private schools, Duterte encouraged them to conduct their respective early registration activities in the same timeframe.

Duterte also reminded all public elementary and secondary schools to update or encode daily in the Early Registration Facility in the Learner Information System using the school head or school administrator account.

The early registration is conducted every year to help DepEd and the schools prepare for the incoming school year.

It also seeks to locate, identify and register out of school youths and children identified as living with disabilities, having chronic illness or nutritional problems, a victim of child abuse or economic exploitation, those in conflict with the law or living in the streets.
