Duterte’s wish as Sara turns 44: ‘Success as VP’

PRESIDENT Duterte wished his daughter, Vice President-elect Sara Duterte-Carpio, “good health” and “success” on her 44th birthday yesterday, Communications Secretary and acting presidential spokesman Martin Andanar said.

“The President’s wishes for our Vice President-elect are good health and success in her role as the second highest official of the land,” Andanar said in a briefing.

There was no official announcement on the activities of Duterte-Carpio, but an appreciation post was uploaded in her official Facebook account: “Salamat po sa mga greetings! Mahal ko kayo! Mahalin natin ang DepEd! Mahalin natin ang Pilipinas!”

There were also photos of her supporters celebrating her birthday, including the distribution of 2,500 family food packs in several areas in Davao City.

Liloan, Cebu Mayor Christina Frasco, the Vice President-elect’s spokesperson, and her husband, Rep. Duke Frasco, greeted her, saying: “Happy Birthday to our Vice President – elect Mayor Inday Sara Duterte! May God continue to bless you abundantly with good health as you continue to serve the Filipino people.”

Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) president and House Majority Leader Martin Romualdez also wished Duterte-Carpio long life, excellent health, and more opportunities to serve the Filipino people.

“We thank the Lord for giving her a full life, and we pray that He will continue to bless our incoming Vice President with good health and strength of will as she faces the next big challenge of her life… She has the right mix of compassion, courage, and leadership that the people need for guidance and inspiration during tough times like this pandemic. We are all lucky to have her,” he said of Duterte-Carpio, the Lakas CMD chairwoman.

Duterte-Carpio is set to take her oath as the 15th vice president of the country in Davao City on June 19 after winning the May 9 polls with more than 32 million votes.
