PRESIDENT Duterte on Monday night said he will continue waging his war against illegal drugs after he steps down from office, adding he will “forever remain the enemy” of drug lords, peddlers and users.
The President, during his “Talk to the People” address, talked of illegal drugs anew, why he hates it, and is angered by those who are involved in the illegal activity.
Duterte again talked of how families become dysfunctional if a member is into illegal drugs and the crimes committed are in connection with illegal drugs.
“Ako basta ako galit ako sa droga. Presidente ako o hindi, galit talaga ako sa inyo. Kaya we can continue this fight even if I am already a civilian… Galit talaga ako. ‘Pag ginawa mo iyan sa bayan ko, para na ring tinatapos mo ang buhay namin. So gusto kong dapat malaman iyan ng mga durugista. I will forever remain your enemy. Iyan ang tandaan ninyo (I am really angry at drugs. Whether I am president or not, I am angry at you. We can continue this fight even if I am already a civilian… I am angry. If you do this to my country, it’s like you ended our lives. So I want the drug addicts and peddlers to know this. I will forever remain your enemy. Remember that),” he said.
He added that he will be happy to see those involved in illegal drugs, especially the drug lords, “dead.”
The President also shrugged off anew the criticisms of human rights groups, saying they are no really helping the country.
Duterte previously expressed hope that the next administration would sustain the campaign against illegal drugs.
