PRESIDENT Duterte will attend the 38th and 39th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summits and Related Summits from October 26 to 28, Malacañang said yesterday.
The summits to be hosted by Brunei Darussalam will be held through virtual video conferences because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Presidential spokesman Harry Roque could not say what the President will focus on when he addresses the event.
The 38th and 39th Asean Summits and Related Summits has the theme “We Care, We Prepare, We Prosper.” Brunei earlier said that among issues to be discussed during the meetings are strengthening the resilience of the ASEAN community towards regional recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic; enhancing ASEAN preparedness in addressing common challenges; seizing new opportunities in pursuit of shared prosperity; and maintaining cooperation towards achieving the region’s long-term goals.
