PRESIDENT Duterte has signed four bills into law that strengthen the healthcare system in the country through the creation of a specialty health institution, establishment of tertiary-level public hospitals and increasing the bed capacity of a government hospital.
The President signed last April 16 Republic Acts (RA) 11702 which establishes the Southern Luzon Medical Center in Tayabas City in Quezon; 11703 which establishes the Samar Island Medical Center in Calbayog City; 11705 which establishes the Ilocos Sur Medical Center in Candon City; and 11704 which increases the bed capacity of the Dr. Paulino J. Garcia Memorial Research and Medical Center in Cabanatuan City.
The Department of Health will oversee the operations of the four public hospitals as well as prepare and issue the necessary implementing rules and regulations.
The four laws shall take effect 15 days after its publication in the Official Gazette or a national daily.
