PRESIDENT Duterte on Thursday expressed hope the observance of the month-long Ramadan would give everyone peace amidst the adversity and challenges being faced daily, steer everyone away from misguided ideologies and eventually work together towards a progressive and inclusive society.
In a message at the start of Ramadan, the President expressed hope the Muslim community would be inspired to lead a life of purity and clarity and remain committed to the fostering of unity and solidarity among Filipinos regardless of faith or creed.
“Let this occasion give us peace amidst the adversity and challenges we face each day. As you embody the religious insights and epiphanies you have gleaned from this undertaking, may you be moved to advance our collective resolve to eschew misguided ideologies so that we may achieve a truly progressive and inclusive society,” Duterte said.
Ramadan is a month-long spiritual reflection through praying, fasting and abstinence. In the Philippines, Ramadan will end on May 24.
