THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has already distributed more than P941 million worth of educational aid to 375,485 students nationwide.
DSWD Assistant Secretary Romel Lopez said online application for the cash aid has already been closed after registered applicants reached more than two million.
The department started the distribution of the one-time financial aid last August 20 and now has two remaining payout dates — September 17 and 24.
Lopez reiterated that not all those who applied online and received text confirmation of their appointment for screening will automatically receive cash aid.
He reiterated that the educational assistance is subject to assessment by social workers and subject to the availability of funds.
DSWD expects to distribute the cash aid to around 375,000 to 400,000 students-in-crisis this year. The financial aid is limited to a maximum of three students per family and is distributed as P1,000 for qualified elementary students; P2,000 for qualified high school students; P3,000 for qualified senior high school students; and P4,000 for qualified vocational/college students
The department will be coordinating with the House of Representatives for the possible adoption by the district representatives of the students who did not qualify or did not get the DSWD’s educational assistance program.
