MORE than P517 million worth of assistance has been provided by the government and non-government organization (NGOs) to families affected by typhoon Odette last month.
The DSWD-Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center (DROMIC) said that as of 6 p.m. of January 8, the agency has distributed P336.24 million worth of assistance while local government units distributed P160.87 million worth of aid, NGOs distributed P11.9 million and other partners of government distributed P8.11 million.
DSWD still has some P891.13 million worth of funds, food, and non-food relief items on standby and ready for distribution.
It said that it still has P107.9 million worth of available funds, including P37.18 million worth of quick reaction fund (QRF) available at the DSWD Central Office and P70.7 of standby funds in its field offices as well as P185.96 million worth of family food packs, P363.99 million worth of non-food items (NFIs) and P233.25 million worth of other food items.
DSWD said 63,595 families or 240,359 persons are still displaced in Regions IV-B (Mimaropa) VI (Western Visayas), VII (Central Visayas), VIII (Eastern Visayas), X (Northern Mindanao) and XIII (Caraga) which includes 50,757 families (196,434 persons) staying in 1,108 evacuation centers and 12,838 families (43,925 persons) temporarily staying with their relatives or friends in the six regions.
