A FEMALE informant yesterday received P8 million in reward for information that led to four successful anti-drug operations which netted some 1,000 kilos of suspected shabu worth about P6.8 billion, the death of five suspected drug dealers, and arrest of five others.

The informant, identified only as alias Dream, received the amount in rites led by Philippine Drug Enforce Agency (PDEA) chief Wilkins Villanueva at the PDEA national headquarters in Quezon City.

Dream received P2 million for each of the four operations, one of which led to the seizure of 502.1 kilos of shabu and death of three drug dealers during a buy-bust operation in Candelaria, Zambales on September 7 last year.

The second successful buy-bust operation conducted based on information provided by Dream led to the seizure of 79.9 kilos of shabu and the arrest of three drug dealers in Hermosa, Bataan also on September 7 last year.

Dream also provided information that led to the seizure of 179.5 kilos of shabu and death of two drug dealers during another buy-bust operation in Bacoor City, Cavite on September 9 last year.

The informant was also credited for another buy-bust operation in Dasmariñas City, also in Cavite, on October 16 last year that led to the seizure of 239.5 kilos of shabu and the arrest of two drug dealers.

Another informant, identified as Mashu, received P500,000 for information that led to the seizure of 109 kilos of dried marijuana leaves and arrest of two couriers during an interdiction operation in Lubuangan, Kalinga last February 25.

Nine other informants received a combined P1.18 million reward for other anti-drug operations in other parts of the country.

The nine were identified only as Indah, Aquaman, Bruno, Datu, Jojo, Marvin, Mambo, Ali and Tin.

The 11 informants received the reward under PDEA’s Operation Private Eye, a citizen-based information collection program meant to encourage the public to report illegal drug activities in their communities.

“Human intelligence remains a critical factor in determining success in any intelligence-based operation,” the PDEA said in a statement.
